Africa Safari Manyara Escarpment

Africa Safari Manyara Escarpment sits on the lip of the Mto wa Mbu escarpment, the great western wall of the Rift Valley, looking out across Lake Manyara and the soda flats far below. The setting does most of the work here. Tents are spaced along the cliff line so that the view opens the moment you unzip the door, and the camp falls within a Game Controlled Area, which means activities are permitted on foot and the birdlife around the property is exceptional in its own right. The property is built entirely under canvas, but the interpretation runs from simple to genuinely comfortable. Accommodation spans five categories, from basic Safari Tents with shared facilities through spacious 60 square metre Comfort and Glamping units with king beds, ensuite bathrooms and private terraces. Design is unfussy and practical: solid furniture, solar-heated water, natural materials, and a deliberate lack of walls between guests and the landscape. Family units accommodate up to six. Communal life centres on a restaurant tent and bar with the same escarpment outlook, an infinity pool cut into the edge, and a boma where a campfire is lit after dark. Meals are served at set sittings, with early breakfast from 05:30 for guests heading out on game drives. A spa, fitness tent and boutique round out the facilities. What distinguishes the camp is position and value. It is roughly three kilometres from the Lake Manyara airstrip and within comfortable reach of Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater and the road north to the Serengeti, which makes it as useful as a strategic stopover as it is as a destination.
