Giraffe Manor

Owned by The Safari Collection, Giraffe Manor combines a genuinely historic house with an encounter guests remember for life. The stately facade, elegant interiors, verdant gardens and sunny courtyards feel like walking onto the set of Out of Africa, and one of the twelve rooms is named after Karen Blixen. Rooms in the Manor House carry the most character, with antique trunks, roll top baths, Kitengela glass and windows at giraffe height, while the Garden Manor across the courtyard offers slightly larger, lighter rooms including two added in 2017. Meals move between the formal dining room, the breakfast room where the giraffes appear, the orchid house and the courtyard, and there is a wine cellar for private dinners, a spa and pool at the neighbouring retreat and a fitness room for guests. The herd is part of a long running breeding programme that has helped bring the Nubian giraffe back from the edge, so the visits at dawn and dusk are conservation as much as spectacle. The location is twenty minutes from Nairobi National Park and the Giraffe Centre and roughly forty five minutes from the international airport.
