Hatari Lodge

Hatari Lodge is a unique boutique property within Arusha National Park, steeped in the history of the 1962 John Wayne film 'Hatari!' that was filmed on location here. The lodge offers nine stylishly designed rooms inspired by the Op Art designs of the 1950s and 60s, plus three new 150sqm villa suites ideal for families. Every room features an open fireplace, spacious en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower, flush toilet, twin basins, and Aloe Vera toiletries. Many components are custom-made in Tanzania to support local cooperatives. Two honeymoon rooms include large bathtubs with views of the Momella clearing or Kilimanjaro. The villas — Elephant, Buffalo, and Giraffe — feature Kitengela glass, dramatic furnishings, fireplaces, family dining tables, and two bedrooms with two bathrooms. A viewing platform connected by boardwalk, craft shop, and library lounge where 'Hatari!' is screened complete the experience. Free English breakfast and WiFi are included, and the lodge's location within the national park provides exceptional proximity to wildlife including giraffes, buffaloes, and colobus monkeys.
