Heart and Soul Lodge sits on the main safari route between Mto wa Mbu and Karatu, with sweeping views over the Rift Valley floor toward Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro highlands beyond. Founded by Joseph and Birgit, the lodge pairs meticulous German hospitality with warm East African character across four suite categories: Standard, Twin, King and Family, each simply but comfortably furnished with mosquito netted four poster beds and en suite bathrooms. Guests relax around an outdoor swimming pool set in landscaped gardens, dine on African, European and Indian dishes that draw on produce grown in the lodge's own shamba (home farm), and fall asleep to the calls of hyenas and other nocturnal wildlife. Its location makes it a convenient, unpretentious stopover for travellers moving between Tarangire, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater.
