Jafferji House

Part of the OUR Zanzibar Hotel Group, Jafferji House occupies a beautifully restored 1913 mansion in the winding streets of Stone Town, close to the Old Fort, House of Wonders and Forodhani Gardens. The property is built around an open, carved wood atrium several storeys tall, a signature piece of Zanzibari architecture that runs through the centre of the house and sets the tone for the whole stay. Ten individually themed suites, split across Superior and Signature categories, are furnished with canopy or four poster beds, mosquito nets, air conditioning, WiFi, television and a safety deposit box, each with its own bold colour scheme and decor inspired by Zanzibar and East African history. Guests can relax in the Rockers Lounge or the Moroccan lit Tranquillity Lounge, both arranged around the courtyard, before heading up to the rooftop restaurant for Swahili dishes with a continental flair and views over Stone Town rooftops toward the ocean. The hotel also arranges Swahili cooking lessons, a traditional Zanzibar coffee ceremony, and tours and excursions around the island, making it a comfortable, characterful base for travellers who want to explore Stone Town on foot.
