Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge

Kenya

About this stay

Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge is built on a range of hills forming the western limits of the Great Rift Valley, inside Lake Nakuru National Park. The lodge overlooks Lake Nakuru and the surrounding wooded grasslands, a landscape known for its rhino sanctuary and, seasonally, huge flocks of flamingos and pelicans along the lakeshore. The main building is a series of round, thatch roofed structures housing the lounge, bar and restaurant, all opening onto wide sheltered terraces with lake views. The 60 rooms, including two wheelchair accessible units, are spacious with private verandas or balconies, minibars and en-suite bathrooms with double basins and a bidet. An infinity swimming pool overlooks the lake and is served by a pool bar. Other facilities include a gift shop, a boardroom for small meetings, and grounds used for bush dinners and bird walks. The lodge is about 165 km, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by road, from Nairobi, with a short transfer from Naishi airstrip for guests flying in, making it a convenient stop at the start or end of a Kenya safari circuit.
