Nyikani Migration Camp

Nyikani Migration Camp is a mobile camp that moves twice a year so guests stay within reach of the Great Migration. This listing covers its northern position, the Machwechwe 1 site in the Kogatende area of northern Serengeti National Park, occupied from about 20 May to 20 November and roughly a 25 minute drive from Kogatende airstrip. The camp sits close to the Mara River and several of its crossing points, where wildebeest and zebra move back and forth between Tanzania and Kenya through the second half of the year, with crocodile, hippo and big cats concentrated along the same stretch. For the remainder of the year the camp relocates south to the Old Ndutu 1 site in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, from 1 December to early April, for the calving season around Lakes Ndutu and Masek. Accommodation is 12 walk in tents in king, twin, triple or family configurations, including a dedicated family tent and a separate tour leader tent, set 15 to 20 metres apart for privacy. Each has an en suite bathroom with flush toilet, double wash basins with running water and a safari style bucket shower, plus a writing desk, digital safe, a power point with universal adapter and a shaded private veranda looking out over the plains. Separate dining and lounge or library tents form the heart of the camp, with a bar, morning coffee and tea butler service, and evening campfires when the weather allows. Power comes from solar with a backup generator and a central charging unit. Rates are full board with a game package, drinking water is included, and there are no age restrictions.
