About this stay
Olakira is Asilia Africa's mobile camp in the Serengeti, built to move with the Great Migration rather than wait for it. Between June and October it stands in the Bolongonja area of the northern Serengeti, within reach of the Mara River crossing points, with Kogatende airstrip a 45 minute drive away. Between December and March it is rebuilt at Ndutu, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, on the southern short grass plains where the herds calve, a 20 minute drive from Ndutu airstrip. April, May and November are closed months.
The signature feature is the tent design. Each guest tent has a mesh enclosed section on wooden decking, so the bed can be rolled out to sleep under the stars without leaving the tent. All tents are en suite with solar heated hot water showers. The northern camp runs 10 tents and 2 family units, the southern camp 9 tents and 1 family unit, and the family units have separate bedrooms. Communal space is a lounge and bar and a mess tent for dining. There is Wi-Fi and there are battery charging facilities, and the camp runs on 100 percent solar power with a backup generator. Children aged 5 and older are welcome.
