Stanley's Kopje

Stanley's Kopje perches on a rocky outcrop in Mikumi National Park, with its 12 tents spaced around the lower slopes to take in sweeping views across the surrounding plains. The elevated setting gives every tent a private veranda looking out over grassland where elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and lion move below, with a swimming pool, lounge and dining area sharing the same outlook from the top of the kopje. Mikumi is one of Tanzania's most accessible parks, reached in around five hours by road from Dar es Salaam via the Tanzam Highway or by scheduled Safari Air Link flight, making it a popular short safari from the coast. Game drives and walking safaris cover the open Mkata floodplain, and sundowners are taken on the kopje as the sun sets over the plains. Stanley's Kopje is run by Foxes Safari Camps and operates seasonally from June to February.
