About this stay
Wilderness Bisate is Rwanda's premier eco-lodge for mountain gorilla trekking, set within the breathtaking landscape of Volcanoes National Park. The lodge features six forest villas designed as homages to Rwandan royalty — giant birds' nests tucked into the trees — each offering panoramic views of the Bisoke, Karisimbi, and Mikeno volcanoes.
Every villa features en-suite bathrooms, fireplaces lit daily, and a gym-in-a-basket, creating a sustainably luxurious retreat in the heart of the rainforest. The lodge's communal spaces include a wine cellar, library, The Sanctuary wellness centre, the Kwanda day lounge in the garden, and a curio shop. Meals are sourced from Bisate's own organic vegetable garden and local farmers.
Since opening in 2017, Bisate has earned 34 awards and a perfect 5.0-star TripAdvisor rating. Included experiences range from gorilla and golden monkey treks to guided nature walks, Mount Bisoke hiking, Dian Fossey gravesite visits, reforestation participation, community visits, evening film screenings, and a complimentary 20-minute massage.
