Wilderness Sabyinyo

Wilderness Sabyinyo is a quietly luxurious community-owned lodge offering unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park. Set on a 16-hectare property in the foothills of the Virunga Massif, the lodge combines conservation with luxury hospitality in one of Africa's most remarkable settings. The property contains nine rooms across varied unit types: six stone cottages with fireplaces, two luxurious king-size four-poster suites, and one spacious family unit with two separate bedrooms. Each room features large sitting areas, fireplaces lit nightly, stylish en-suite bathrooms, and a sheltered veranda with cinematic views over the volcanoes. Complete trekking equipment is provided, along with boot cleaning service after treks. As Rwanda's first-ever community-owned lodge, Sabyinyo is owned by SACOLA (Sabyinyo Community Livelihood Association), which reinvests revenues into local socio-economic and conservation initiatives. Meals are designed with sustainability in mind, using daily harvests from the organic vegetable gardens to create traditional dishes with cosmopolitan flair. Just 15 minutes from Volcanoes National Park headquarters, guests have access to 12 gorilla families, golden monkey tracking, and guided nature trails.
