Tour Overview
Fly into Uganda's most remote and spectacular park for four days of frontier safari. Kidepo's vast semi-arid savannah holds wildlife found nowhere else in Uganda — cheetah, striped hyena, ostrich, and kudu — alongside healthy populations of lion, leopard, and elephant. This is the Uganda safari that the guides keep for themselves.

Itinerary
Fly to Kidepo - Afternoon Narus Valley Drive
Morning charter flight from Entebbe — two hours over the green heart of Uganda, the landscape below drying from lush farmland to tawny savannah as you approach the northeast. You land at Apoka airstrip, heat shimmering off the runway. Your lodge sits at the base of a rocky kopje with views across the Narus Valley that stretch to the horizon. Afternoon game drive in the Narus Valley — Uganda kob, hartebeest, zebra, buffalo, and your first sighting of ostrich, a species absent from every other Ugandan park.
Meal Plan:
BreakfastLunchDinnerFull-Day Narus Valley Safari
A full day in the Narus Valley — the park's wildlife epicentre. Morning drive targeting predators: lions here are bold and visible on the open plains, and the rocky kopjes are prime leopard territory. Your guide glasses the grassland for cheetah — sleek, nervous, scanning for prey with an intensity that sets them apart from every other cat. Afternoon drive along the seasonal waterholes where elephant herds congregate, dust-bathing in amber clouds. Watch for bat-eared foxes in the evening — their oversized ears twitching like satellite dishes.
Meal Plan:
BreakfastLunchDinnerKidepo Valley and Karamojong Cultural Visit
Drive to the Kidepo Valley itself — the northern sector, drier and more remote than Narus. The landscape is austere and magnificent: golden grass, flat-topped acacias, and the Morungole Mountains forming a jagged wall to the south. Search for greater and lesser kudu in the thicker bush along the seasonal Kidepo River. Afternoon visit to a Karamojong manyatta — the elaborate beadwork, the rhythm of cattle bells, the warmth of the welcome. The Karamojong have been custodians of this landscape for centuries, and their perspective enriches your understanding of this wild corner of Africa.
Meal Plan:
BreakfastLunchDinnerDawn Drive and Return Flight
A final dawn game drive as the Narus Valley wakes. Golden light floods the savannah, long shadows stretching from every acacia. A lilac-breasted roller launches from a dead branch in a burst of turquoise and violet. Zebra herds kick up dust against the rising sun. After breakfast at the lodge, transfer to Apoka airstrip for the return flight to Entebbe. You leave with the conviction that Kidepo is Africa's best-kept secret — a park that rivals the Serengeti in beauty and has it almost entirely to yourself.
