Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut (2,720m)
Trek through lush montane rainforest on a well-maintained trail. Gentle ascent of 860m through towering trees and moss-covered canopy. Overnight in wooden A-frame huts at Mandara.

Cross from forest into heath and moorland with views of both Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. The longest trekking day with 1,000m elevation gain. Overnight at Horombo Hut complex.

Cross the alpine desert saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. Stark, lunar landscape with minimal vegetation. Arrive at Kibo Hut for early dinner before midnight summit attempt.

Midnight departure for the summit push. Climb steep switchbacks to Gilman's Point, then traverse the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend to Horombo Hut after the summit.

Final descent through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate. Collect your summit certificate and transfer back to your hotel in Moshi.
