Itinerary
Arrive Queen Elizabeth - Crater Drive and Sunset
Transfer from Kampala or charter flight to Kasese airstrip. Afternoon drive through the park's stunning explosion crater landscape — turquoise lakes filling ancient volcanic vents, each ringed by green slopes alive with birds. Check into your lodge as the sun drops behind the Rwenzori Mountains, painting the western sky in shades of amber and violet.
Meal Plan:
BreakfastLunchDinnerKazinga Channel and Kasenyi Plains
Morning boat safari on the Kazinga Channel — hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and more waterbirds than you can identify in a week. Lunch at the lodge, then an afternoon game drive on the Kasenyi Plains. This is prime lion and leopard territory, with vast herds of Uganda kob providing the prey base. Watch for martial eagles circling overhead and topi standing sentinel on termite mounds.
Meal Plan:
BreakfastLunchDinnerKyambura Gorge Chimp Tracking and Ishasha
Early morning descent into Kyambura Gorge to track chimpanzees. The gorge is an extraordinary microhabitat — tropical forest hidden 100 metres below the savannah, following the path of the Kyambura River. After the trek, drive south to the Ishasha sector. Afternoon search for the famous tree-climbing lions in the fig forests along the Ishasha River. Overnight at an Ishasha lodge.
Meal Plan:
BreakfastLunchDinnerIshasha Morning Drive - Return
A final morning game drive in Ishasha, hoping for a close encounter with the tree-climbing prides. The southern sector also holds good numbers of elephant, topi, and hyena. After a lodge brunch, transfer to Kihihi airstrip for the flight back to Entebbe, or continue by road to Bwindi for gorilla trekking.
