How to Reach Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park is a key destination on the Northern safari circuit in Tanzania. The main gateway to this park is the town of Arusha, which is conveniently accessible via air travel.
Major Airports
The most common route to get close to Lake Manyara is by flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), located approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) from Arusha. Another option is flying into Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam, followed by a domestic flight to either Arusha Airport (ARK) or directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Domestic Flights and Transfers
From Arusha or Serengeti National Park, flights are available directly to Lake Manyara's airstrip. However, if traveling by road, it takes roughly 1.5 hours on a paved road to reach Lake Manyara from Arusha. When coming from the Ngorongoro Crater area, expect about 2 hours of driving to cover the 80 kilometers (50 miles). Please note that these travel times are approximations and could be affected by delays.
